If you have Windows 8 (or 8.1) and need to reset your computer (by reset I mean wipe it out and start fresh with the factory default settings) but you have forgotten your password, follow these steps:
 

1. Turn on the computer and wait until you get to the login screen.
2. Press and hold the [SHIFT] key and select the option to restart.
3. Follow the prompts in the recovery menu.
4. Note: Only the full reset option will work with no password. To refresh (keep your files) you will still need your password.
5. The reset process will erase ALL your personal data and the computer will reset to factory defaults. Use this info with caution.
